DGE Gary Trail has asked me to pass on the following information:

We have picked our official District hotel for the Rotary International Convention in Lisbon, Portugal for next June 2013.

From what we can tell, many of the reasonably priced hotels are already booking up quickly and therefore we, we have been unable to secure a block of rooms.

If you are even thinking of going to the convention, we urge you to book your room NOW!   You can make the reservation and cancel it at no cost.

Here is the link to the hotel:http://www.ibishotel.com/gb/hotel-3137-ibis-lisboa-liberdade/index.shtml

We have also created a facebook group to for this trip, so if you would like to join it just go to:
https://www.facebook.com/groups/382985975090291/ and request to join the group.

Getting to Lisbon and Pre & Post Convention Tours

For flights to Lisbon, we have found that SATA Airlines www.sata.pt and Air Transat www.airtransat.ca  are the cheapest way to go.  Or if you wish, you could travel Air Canada www.aircanada.ca . Just click on the websites to book your flights.

There are also many great pre & post tours available. To find these just click on the following website www.lisboa2013.org  Once on the site, type in the word tours in the search box which will take you to HOC Events & Tours and then click on Local Events.

By far the best deal I have found out there is with Rotarian Terri Brophy who has seats blocked off with Air Transat that are well below (more than $100.00) what you would pay if booking direct.  You can contact Terri at [email protected]

Hope to see you all in Lisbon!

A little name confusion here!

If you can't see it, John has Sakuji's name badge, and Sakuji has John's.

On behalf of District Governor John Gordon, I am pleased to announce a new training program now available to Rotarians throughout our District.

Our District has joined more than 300 Districts from around the Rotary world in order to provide more training for individual Rotarians through a program provided by the Rotary Leadership Institute. This program is a way of taking Rotarians from any level of experience and give them more in depth Rotary knowledge and information.

A great article was posted in the Barrie Examiner, talking about 2 girls from our district heading off for their Youth Exchange.

Natassja Bilinski, left, and Jessika McLaurin will say goodbye to their family and friends on Friday before leaving overseas to study foreign cultures with the Rotary Youth Exchange program. Bilinski will live in Taiwan for a year while McLaurin will be visiting Belgium. LANCE HOLDFORTH PHOTO

What was the event that caused you to go from being a member of Rotary, to becoming a Rotarian?

District 7010 is looking for club members to send in their stories, to be published on the District site.

If you think you have a great story to share, click on the "What is your Rotary Moment" link on the right.

I just had this clarified by ClubRunner support, and my club secretary wasn't aware either, so I thought I should pass this on to the District.
