THE ROTARY CLUB OF BURLINGTON LAKESHORE AND

CANADA’S LARGEST RIBFEST

GIVES BACK

FOUNDATION STUDENT AWARDS

BURLINGTON, Ontario- The Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore (RCBL) announced the winners of 9 scholarships recipients at the annual awards banquet held last night. $47,500 in student scholarships were awarded by the Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore and its charitable foundation. Out of a total of 62 entries received, this year nine awards of $2,500 have been given to exceptional Burlington high school students. In addition a $15,000 Graduate Scholarship was awarded to Kathryn Sinden M.Sc.

The Rotary Club of Burlington Lakeshore Charitable Foundation was established in 1991 to provide educational awards to graduating high school students in the greater Burlington area, to assist them with post-secondary education costs. These awards are made possible because of our fundraising event, Canada’s Largest Ribfest.

The Foundation is an endowment funded so that these awards can be provided each year from income earned by the Foundation assets. The criteria for the selection of students winning an award include: academic average; community and school volunteer service; demonstration of leadership in school or community activities; and financial need

A special feature at this year’s awards ceremony was the announcement for the music lineup for Canada’s Largest Ribfest and featured a showcase performance from students at Merriam Music, a partner of Canada’s Largest Ribfest who will also be taking to the Gazebo Stage all weekend long later this summer.

You can now search for a Rotary club with RI's free mobile app. In the Apple app store and Android market, it's called the Rotary Club Locator from Rotary International. The app also will soon be offered for BlackBerry phones.

The Rotary Club Locator app helps you find a Rotary club meeting when you're on the go.

·       The "Near Me" search locates clubs within a physical radius of 100 miles. (Note: Actual driving distances may be further.)

·       A keyword search for clubs. This search looks for the keyword in either the club name or meeting location address. This is useful for finding clubs that are outside of the 100-mile radius from your current location.

·       A map showing a club's location and driving directions

·       The ability to save search results to a list of favorite clubs

·       The ability to add a club to your phone's contact list

·       The club's website and primary phone number, if available

·       A search function to find clubs by district

To view club officer contact information, you must login into the app with your RI Member Access login information
