If we have no peace, it is because we have forgotten we belong to each other."

We could never learn to be brave and patient, if there were only joy in the world.

The Object of Rotary is to encourage and foster the ideal of service as a basis of worthy enterprise and, in particular, to encourage and foster:

  • FIRST. The development of acquaintance as an opportunity for service;
  • SECOND. High ethical standards in business and professions; the recognition of the worthiness of all useful occupations; and the dignifying of each Rotarian's occupation as an opportunity to serve society;
  • THIRD. The application of the ideal of service in each Rotarian's personal, business, and community life;
  • FOURTH. The advancement of international understanding, goodwill, and peace through a world fellowship of business and professional persons united in the ideal of service.
Rotary International invites one and all to get online and participate in the World's Biggest Commercial, promoting the global effort to eradicate this crippling childhood disease. This video will help you to understand the importance of this campaign, as well as give you a step by step instruction on how to participate and promote this initiative.

"The World's Biggest Commercial" is an ever-expanding video that people can join by adding their own "This Close" photo through Rotary's End Polio Now website. Links to the video have spread around the globe through a direct email campaign from Rotary, personal emails and social media posts. In addition, every person who joins the commercial can opt-in to have their name added to a petition urging world leaders to come together to help provide the $5.5 billion needed to end polio now.And, thanks to a recent partnership with PhRMA, the largest pharmaceutical trade association in the U.S., each photo uploaded will result in a donation that saves two lives from polio. Rotary's viral campaign, which is also seeking to set a Guinness World Record, was launched October 24 to coincide with World Polio Day. People in more than 115 countries including India, Brazil, the U.K., Canada and the United States have already joined this viral crusade. Celebrities, world and business leaders like Bill Gates, Archbishop Desmond Tutu, Jane Goodall, Amanda Peet, Jack Nicklaus, Ted Turner, Jackie Chan and PSY have also joined thousands of people in the public viral initiative to end polio – with more joining every day.

It's time to make history together.Help us change the world.

Watch the video, participate and share the word!

Let's end polio now.

We are "This Close."
