February is World Understanding Month.

The international projects in which our clubs have been involved have not only helped people in other parts of the world. Through these projects we promote Peace through Service, as the recipients and beneficiaries of our efforts recognize that their fellow human beings, who may never meet them, care enough to help them meet their basic needs. Many clubs in the district have already met or exceeded their goals for giving to The Rotary Foundation. There is still time for those who have not donated and for individual Rotarians who haven’t met their personal goals. Of course, we also have to allocate some of our giving to Polio Plus. We are "this close" to eradicating polio. It remains endemic in only three countries and the number of cases falls each year. We cannot give up the fight. The children of today – and tomorrow – are counting on us and we will not fail them!

If you have not already registered for the District Conference, please do it today! Registration is easy on the district website. The Conference will be held on Friday May 3rd (beginning with lunch) and Saturday May 4th (ending in the afternoon), at the Four Seas Restaurant in San Francisco. The cost is only $195, inclusive of meals, entertainment and registration. There is an optional golf tournament and dinner on Thursday May 2nd. The Conference is where we celebrate all the wonderful things you have accomplished this year. We will have fellowship, great entertainment and timely, topical panels and speakers. What’s Rule Number One in Rotary? Have Fun – and at the Conference, we will! Seating is limited, so sign up now.

In Peace,
Bob Robert Intner
