Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis Club

Ron Steindorf Awarded 2014 Bert Grover Child Advocacy Award

If you ask a member of the Appleton Fox Cities Kiwanis club about the volunteering that we do, you will find that volunteering extends past Kiwanis service projects.

At the WASDA (Wisconsin Association of School District Administrators) award ceremony on May 8, 2014 at the Radisson Paper Valley Hotel, club member Ron Steindorf was awarded the 2014 WASDA Bert Grover Child Advocacy Award.  The nomination was submitted by Val Dreier, Assistant Superintendent of Appleton Area School District (AASD).  This is a state selected award.

Ron is a substitute volunteer tutor for the AASD that has filled in (often when they are in a pinch) at several of the elementary schools for both the reading and math programs.  Ron began as a volunteer tutor at Badger Elementary School back in 1999 and has been a tutor ever since.

If you know Ron, you know he has a remarkable passion for helping children learn and grow.  He is a volunteer that can always be counted on. Ron also serves on the United For Reading Success (1st grade reading tutoring program) advisory board with the AASD.

Congratuations Ron!
